General Description

A single partbook containing Tenor and Bassus parts. Ff. 1-35, 44-46 copied by main scribe, ff. 35'-43 by second scribe, ff. 47'-50' by third scribe. Ff. 25 and 46'-47 (ruled with blank staves) and ff. 43' and 51-51' (unruled) have no music, but contain later miscellaneous scribblings. Copied in England. Apparent 18th-century owners include Thomas Mulliner, Samuel Wells, and members of Payne family (names on various folios). Purchased by British Museum in 1892.

1 paper partbook (T/B-i + 51 + ii folios), 238 x 175. New pencil foliation, 1-51, replaces earlier foliation, now crossed out. Ff. 25 and 46'-47 (ruled with blank staves) and ff. 43' and 51-51' (unruled) have no music, but contain later miscellaneous scribblings. Original covers of brown leather stamped with ornamental designs, glued onto new binding. No index. Ff. 1-35, 44-46 copied by main scribe, ff. 35'-43 by second scribe, ff. 47'-50' by third scribe. Sections copied by main scribe have large, elaborately decorated painted initials in blue and red; titles and some texts ornamented with red ink. No other decoration.

Early 16th century. Copied in England. Apparent 18th-century owners include Thomas Mulliner, Samuel Wells, and members of Payne family (names on various folios). Purchased by British Museumin 1892.
