General Description

Copied by Netherlands court scribe Petrus Alamire (NowakM), though Warmington assigns some of the music copying to scribe K (KellmanTO). Copied in Brussels/Mechlin; belongs to Netherlands court complex (KellJ). Sent to Raimund Fugger the Elder (1489-1535), of Augsburg. Fugger library purchased by Emperor Ferdinand III and brought to Vienna in 1656.

The Magnificat extract at f. 64v-65 is dentified as by La Rue in KellmanTO, but not part of the Magnificat 4th tone in his 'set', nor of the disputed one in Capp Sist 44 variously assigned to Josquin, Agricola, Brumel and La Rue. If authentic La Rue, therefore, this is a fragment of a piece NOT, apparently, recognized as being part of his output - despite the attribution in KellmanTO.

I think I have correctly identified the relevant anon pieces in these two partbooks and given them a title. I can't find the mass in Toledo 33, and I wonder if it's the one ascribed to Bauldeweyn under a different title? There's also a mass with the same name by Vacqueras in I-Rvat Capp. Sist. 49. There is also a Miss du on du cueur in D-Mbs was ascribed to Jheronimus Vinders. I fear there is more untangling yet to be done.
