General Description

2 inked and painted calligraphic initials elaborated with humorous faces, apparently cut from folios originating in the workshop of Petrus Alamire. 47/1 = C (for Contra); 47/2 = T (for Tenor). Some notation, appearing on the verso of 47/1, has been identified (by Jacobijn Kiel) as a fragment of the discantus part of the ‘Kyrie’ of Pierre de la Rue’s Missa Tous les regrets. Kiel tentatively distinguishes music hand C2 and text hand X.
