General Description

A folio from a choirbook re-used to cover a register of accounts (1592-1611) of the Hospice of the Holy Trinity. The folio has been cut in two horizontally, to make front and rear covers; the music and staves at the cut edge have suffered wear and damage, with some loss.

The folio appears to be from the same book as St-Gudule 9424, and to be the folio immediately following that one. Consequently it can be attributed to Alamire scribe D.

General Note

This ms from the Alamire workshop provides a clear ascription to La Rue, of greater authority than the dual ascriptions to Serrmisy and Verdelot in the Attaingnant 1534 'Liber Tertius' print. (See Vanhulst.)
