General Description

Copied by Netherlands court scribe C and by Netherlands court scribe Petrus Alamire (KellJ); WarmMC distinguishes several music and/or text scripts: scribe C2 (ff. 2'-9); scribe E (ff. 12'-26, 27'-40', 42'-55, 57'-68, 69'-82, 84'-98); and scribe X (ff. l'-9, 10'-26, 27'-55', 56'-68, 69'-82, 83'-98 and most of the text). In KellmanTO Warmington again recognises a role for scribe C in the music copying, but re-attributes the text of ff. 2'-9 to scribe C5. Copied in Brussels/ Mechlin; belongs to Netherlands court complex (KellJ). Prepared for Ulrich Pfinzing (1481-1530), treasurer at court of Emperor Maximilian I (coat of arms on f. 10). Once in Schloss Ambras near Innsbruck. Transferred to Kunsthistorisches Staatsmuseum in Vienna in 1806; passed to Nationalbibliothek in 1936.
