General Description

A Tenor partbook from a set originally of 8 volumes (LonBL 34000 is D1 book of set). Music copied by a single scribe, employed by Edward Paston. Of English provenance; originated in the household of Edward Paston (1550-1630) of Norfolk, a country gentleman and collector of music. Presented to Madrigal Society in 1832 by the collector Stephen Groombridge; placed on permanent deposit at British Museum in 1953.

Music copied by a single scribe, employed by Edward Paston (see BrettEP for list of other books in the same hand and for discussion of related manuscripts from Paston's circle). No initials or decoration.
