General Description

A Discantus partbook from a set originally of five volumes. Copied by a single scribe, employed by Edward Paston (1550-1630) of Norfolk, a country gentleman and collector of music. In the same hand as MSS. Tenbury 354-358 and 369-373.

Acquired by Sir Leicester Harmsworth at a Sotheby's sale in 1926. Purchased in 1939 by E. H. Fellowes on behalf of St. Michael's College (near Tenbury, Worcester); deposited in Bodleian Library in 1979.

Early 17th century. Of English provenance; originated in the household of Edward Paston (1550-1630) of Norfolk, a country gentleman and collector of music. Acquired by Sir Leicester Harmsworth at a Sotheby's sale in 1926. Purchased in 1939 by E. H. Fellowes on behalf of St. Michael's College (near Tenbury, Worcester); deposited in Bodleian Library in 1979.
