General Description

An Altus partbook from a set of three volumes. Copied by a single scribe, except for last piece, which is later addition by a different hand. Of Silesian origin; possibly copied in Glogau (EDMR) or Sagan (Żagań - RumboldC). Once owned by cathedral library in Glogau; probably entered Preussische Staats-bibliothek in Berlin during 19th century.

Contents are a mix of Latin church music, German-texted songs, dances & quodlibets, and a number of textless chansons. The last group (most of the last 35 pieces in the manuscript) were copied from textless originals and are identified only by letters - A, B, C, ... with the second alphabetical sequence starting Alpha, Beta. Several of these are identifiable from concordances.
