General Description

Theological writings with polyphony on flyleaves, apparently the only surviving remnants of a larger musical manuscript. Copied by Frater Rolandus Monachus (CattRC, based on scribal concordance with PadU 1106 and 1225, signed by Rolandus). Copied at St. Giustina Benedictine Abbey in Padua. Folios with music later removed from original context and used as flyleaves.

Remained at St. Giustina until Napoleonic dissolution of the monasteries (1797), then taken to Paris. Later owned by Venier family; purchased through Paduan dealer in 1818 by the scholar Antonio Rosmini-Serbati (1797-1855), founder of Institute of Charity (main convent at Monte Calvario near Domodossola). Rosmini's books transferred from Domodossola to newly constructed library at Stresa in 1938.

Reported by MB as missing since 2001. In 2003 M. Cuthbert was given confirmation that it was there, but on arrival was told it was in storage and unreachable.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 4: 15. Jh.; 136 Blätter Pergament + je 1 Pergament Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblatt, 200 x l50 mm. - Einband: 15.
