General Description

Polyphony found only on original flyleaves at front and back; these were once part of same manuscript as PadU 675, 1225, and 1283 (FischN). Copied by Frater Rolandus Monachus (inscriptions in manuscript). Copied at St. Giustina Benedictine Abbey in Padua. Folios with music removed from original context and used as flyleaves during first half of 15th century. Subsequent history same as for PadU 675.

RISM Description

155 folios in total, plus 3 flyleaves. Modern leather binding over original wood boards. Music only on flyleaves. 10 red 5-line staves per page.

RISM B/IV 4: 15. Jh.; 155 Blätter Pergament + l Vorsatz- und 2 Nachstoßblätter Pergament (+ 1 jüngeres Vorsatzblatt), 290 x 205 mm. - Einband: Moderner Lederüberzug über originaler Holzdeckel.

Diese aus S. Giustina (Padua) stammende Handschrift des 15. Jh. enthält theologische Schriften: Expositione del Credo... und Passio sanctissime Catherine... (altes Inventar Nr. 323). Musik steht nur auf den 3 alten Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblätter, von denen zwei ursprünglich in den Deckel geklebt gewesen sind und dort zur Entzifferung des zum Teil schwer lesbaren Fragmentes wertvolle Abklatsche hinterlassen haben. Die aus einer größeren Handschrift vermutlich des frühen 15. Jh. stammenden Blätter zeigen je Seite 10 rote Fünfliniensysteme Das ursprüngliche Format der nur wenig beschnittenen Blätter betrug ca. 305 x 230 mm. Als Schreiber zeichnet auf f. 1r, 2v und 3r ein Rolandus Monachus. Dies sowie das Format der Handschrift lassen erkennen, daß das Fragment zur gleichen Handschrift gehört haben muß wie I-Pul225 (und vielleicht auch I-Pu675 und 1283).

Polyphony found only on original flyleaves at front and back, trimmed from original size of ca. 305 x 230; these flyleaves were once part of same manuscript as PadU 675, 1225, and 1283 (FischN). Original covers of wooden boards, now overlaid with modern leather. Black mensural notation on red staves. Copied by Frater Rolandus Monachus (inscriptions in manuscript); see general index for other manuscripts copied by the same scribe.
