General Description

The main scribe was Gianpiero Masacone, whose name appears in several of the initials; this same scribe copied FlorD 4, 11, and 28; he may also have copied BolC Q21 and ChiN M91. The first piece, in a different hand, was probably added to the manuscript later; the last piece is also a later addition. Copied in Florence; the scribe was connected with the Medici court and church of San Lorenzo during the middle decades of the 16th century.

Benvenutus-1, Carpentras-6, Carpentras/(Jaquet of Mantua)-1, Colin-1, Corteccia [Corts]-1, Lhéritier-1, Morales-6, Verdelot-2, (Willaert)-1, anon-14. Seven of the anonymous pieces are erroneously attributed to Verdelot by BragardE; see BökMPV, 234-9.

Copied mostly by Gianpiero Masacone, whose name appears in several initials; see general index for other manuscripts attributed to the same scribe. Later additions by several other scribes.
