General Description

Composite of two unrelated manuscripts later bound together: Part I = new ff. 1-172 (non-musical contents; not taken into further consideration here); Part II = new ff. 173-205 (polyphony). Copied by a single scribe. Copied in Krakow (BrewerAN). In Swidziñski library in Warsaw by 19th century; subsequently acquired by Krasiński family. Krasiński collection later transferred to Biblioteka Narodowa, Warsaw. Manuscript taken to Munich during World War II, but returned to Biblioteka Narodowa in 1948.

Apparent attribution for Gloria on f. 205' is "O[pus] N. . . ."; remainder of name not clearly legible, but might refer to N. de Ostrorog, or to Nicholas of Radom, or to another unidentified composer.

The piece is in 3 sections of roughly equal length, and has some melodic and rhythmic similarities to Grossin's Gloria which follows shortly after it in Krasinski. Miroslaw Perz cautiously identified it, therefore, as a Kyrie setting possibly by Grossin and perhaps linked to the Gloria.
