RISM Description

RISM B/IV 2: These two fragments presented by I. A. Williams of King's College in 1913 meas. 220 x 188 and 188 x 224 mm. respectively. They are early 15th century parchment flyleaves from the binding of Sym. 5.55.8. Unfortunately, much of the pages in question has been cut away. The notation has the peculiarity of grouping longs into threes to form a perfection evidently representing a single maxima in value. The five-line staves are in the same black ink as the notes, while initials are in red. It would appear that normal Ars Nova type mensural notation alternates with sections in longs, as may be seen by the section of music preceding the Amen in no. 1 and following the opening Sanctus group in no. 2.
