General Description

4 strips from a single folio, apparently the only remnants of a choirbook. Copied by two scribes. Copied in England. Fragments removed from original context and used in bindings of three books during late 15th or early 16th century. Latter books subsequently owned by Thomas Nevile, Dean of Canterbury and Master of Trinity College 1593-1615. Books presented to Trinity College by Nevile c. 1611-2, and received call numbers B. 10. 5, R. 5. 34, and R. 7. 14. Musical fragments removed from bindings in 1982. The single fragment has been reconstructed from binding strips that were originally in Trinity MSS B. 10. 5, R. 5. 34 and R. 7. 14.

4 parchment strips from a single folio, ca. 212 x 314 as presently mounted, recovered from bindings of three books in this library: MSS B.10.5, R.5.34 and R.7.14; fragments mounted in perspex in 1982. Apparently the only surviving remnants of a choirbook. Black mensural notation on red staves, with red full coloration and black void semiminims. Copied by two scribes. Staff height 15. No initials or decoration.

Early 15th century. Copied in England. Fragments removed from original context and used in bindings of three books during late 15th or early 16th century. Latter books subsequently owned by Thomas Nevile, Dean of Canterbury and Master of Trinity College 1593-1615. Books presented to Trinity College by Nevile ca. 1611-2, and received call numbers B. 10. 5, R. 5. 34, and R. 7. 14. Musical fragments removed from bindings in 1982; now preserved separately under above call number.
