General Description

Main layer copied by a single scribe, in score format; several other scribes added bicinia (in score format) and intabulations (including keyboard versions of some pieces previously copied in main layer). Copied in England. Inscription 'Sawyer / is my name' on f. 60 may refer to early (original?) owner. Later inscription inside back cover: 'This booke appertaigneth unto me Robert Corbett / being [ge]ven me of my friend James Vantyn / Apryll 1580.' Originally 138 folios or more.
