Original covers of thick parchment, in poor condition. No index. Main layer copied by a single scribe, in score format; white mensural notation on printed staves (staff height 10.5). Several other scribes added bicinia (in score format) and intabulations (including keyboard versions of some pieces previously copied in main layer). No initials or decoration. Only unidentifiable fragment of watermark visible.
Third quarter of 16th century. Copied in England. Inscription "Sawyer / is my name" on f. 60 may refer to early (original?) owner. Later inscription inside back cover: "This booke appertaigneth unto me Robert Corbett / being [ge]ven me of my friend James Vantyn / Apryll 1580."
