General Description

A single Bassus partbook. Copied by Toby Brookinge, who also wrote most of DurC C2, DurC C11, DurC C13, DurC C16, and DurC E11a, parts of DurC C4, and some additions in DurC C8 (Brian Crosby); pp. [90-91] copied by second scribe, who also made additions in DurC C2, DurC C11, and DurC C13; pp. 385-386 copied by third scribe, who also wrote portions of LonBL 30478. Répertorial connections with LonBL 30478 and LonBL 30479. Copied in Durham, probably for John Cosin, a prebendary at Durham Cathedral, appointed Master of Peterhouse College, Cambridge, in 1635 (CrosbyD). Later owned by Lt.-Colonel J. A. Dunnington-Jefferson; donated to York Minster Library c. 1944.
