Popule meus - 1a pars (of 5): Popule meus quid feci tibi aut in quo

Attribution Note

In GB-Lcm 1070 (The Anne Boleyn Music Book) this piece has long been known and attributed tentatively to Compere. The copies in Polish mss have not previously been recognised as concordances, and were hitherto attributed to Walter along with many other pieces in those mss. On stylistic grounds (cf. In illo tempore & Planxit autem), William Kempster has suggested Popule meus might be by Ninot le Petit, rather than Compere, and is further researching that possibility.
