A Bassus partbook. Main scribe of the Tenor book was Johann Walter; 12 additional scribes. Bassus book copied by one main scribe and seven additional scribes, none of whose hands appear in the Tenor. Although the two partbooks share a lot of the repertory, it seems they do not belong to the same set. Manuscript related to BerlPS 40013, BerlPS 40043, GothaF A98, and WeimB B (GerhW). Copied in Torgau, under direction of Johann Walter, for use in Pfarrkirche or Schlosskirche. Subsequent history unknown until 19th century; assertions of earlier ownership by Martin Luther or other branch of Luther family probably incorrect. Tenor book (and possibly Bassus book) acquired in 1830 by Wilhelm Schäfer of Leipzig; both books purchased in 1870 by the Dresden publisher Heinrich Klemm, through Butsch Antiquariat, Augsburg. Passed to Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg after 1886.
