General Description

North Italian Processional. At f. 98 there is a Kyriale, which suddenly begins with the Ite preceding the Mass Cunctipotens. This section ends at f. 107v, and a sequentiary beginning with Laetabundus goes through, strictly speaking from f. 108 to the end. The polyphony is made up of a few sequences and motets in this section. The 2 sequences are unmeasured, while the upper voices of the motets are divided up clearly into longs and breves. From Aquileia (Father van Dijk).

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 1: A 14th century North Italian vellum Processional meas. 111x82 mm. and containing ii + 177 folios. The folios i, ii and 175 are modern blank parchment flyleaves, while f. 91 and 155 are numbered twice by the small modern pencil foliation at t.r.r. Modern ink foliations (older than the pencil one) occur at t.l.v. and t.r.r., but are mostly cut away and erroneous. Missing pages in the original have been appropriately filled in in several places, both words and music, by a modern hand. The binding consists of 60 mm. thick wooden boards with bevelled edges, which are covered in brown half-leather ornamented with blind tooling; there is a clasp. It is interesting to note that the 2 sequences are unmeasured, while the upper voices of the motets are divided up clearly into longs and breves. The music is generally notated on 5 or 6 red four-line staves per page in square notes. Initials are red, and there are occasional illuminations of religious significance, e.g. whole-page illuminations on f. 9v and 69v. Father van Dijk considers the manuscript dates from the second half of the century and originated in Aquileia.
