General Description

Music appears only on parchment wrapper, apparently the only surviving remnant of a larger liturgical music manuscript. In score format. Copied by a single scribe. Of English origin; perhaps copied in Warwickshire. Bifolio with music removed from original context prior to 1534 and used as wrapper for survey of ecclesiastical benefices in Warwickshire. Volume acquired in 17th century by the antiquarian Simon Archer (1581-1662), of Umberslade, Warwickshire. Archer collection remained in possession of family members until 1946, then deposited at present location.
