General Description

Faburdens for four litanies added at bottom of ff. 57'-58 and ff. 59'-60. Faburden on ff. 57'-58 copied by one scribe; the others were copied by a second scribe. Copied in England. Apparently owned in 16th century by Robertus Paternoster, in 17th century by Jacobi Dowdall, in 1672 by Giles Burrowes, in 18th century by the French antiquarian N. J. Foucault (d. 1721). Acquired by Thomas Rawlinson at auction of Foucaults library; purchased in 1734 by the antiquarian Richard Rawlinson (1690-1755), whose collection passed to Bodleian Library in 1756. Contains polyphonic contents identical to MS. Auct. T inf. 3.17.

i paper + 105 parchment folios, 218 x 150. New pencil foliation, 1-105. New covers of brown leather on wooden boards. Faburdens for four litanies added at bottom of ff. 57'-58 and ff. 59'-60'. Faburden on ff. 57'-58 in chant notation and black mensural notation; other faburdens in white mensural notation on 4-line staves, copied by a different scribe. Polyphonic contents identical to those of OxfB III.17. Painted initials in blue, red, tan, and brown.
