General Description

A single folio, now part of a bundle of miscellaneous folios. The verso contains voices I and IV of a previously unknown four-part setting of the Song of Songs text Descendi in ortum meum which fits with voices II and III on the same text in BL Add 54324, f. 3 recto, with attribution to 'Dunstaple'. With light editorial completion, a version was given in Bent (dissertation) and published in Dunstable (MB 8), no. 73 (pp. 211-4). Probably copied in southeastern England, perhaps at Canterbury. Later incorporated into binding of will register of Consistory Court, Canterbury. Kept at Christ Church, Canterbury until 1857, then transferred to Kent County Record Office, where register received call number PRC 32/1.
