An Altus partbook from a set of four volumes labelled 'Vox summa', 'Vox mercurialis', 'Vox media' (Bassus not labelled). A collection of Mass propers, mostly from Isaac's Choralis Constantinus settings, copied by several scribes; the last 7 pieces, copied by a single scribe (MurTVB) after a gap of a few folios, are unrelated to the main body of the ms.
Much of the manuscript may have been copied from BudOS P1; BudOS 8, in turn, may have served as a source for BudOS 24 (MurIO). Alternatively BudOS 8 may have been the principal source, with BudOS P1, BudOS 20 and BudOS 24 copied mostly or entirely from it; BudOS 2 was in turn copied from BudOS24 (CC2).
The contents of BudOS8 and BudOS 24 show considerable overlap, though the sequence of pieces in BudOS24 is more structured, and they are more neatly and carefully copied, than in BudOS8, The Choralis Constantinus II repertoire in BudOS 8 is substantially adapted to suit local requirements, with several pieces assigned to different liturgical feasts and three supplied with new texts (CC2).
From the Church of St. Aegidi in Bártfa (= Bartfeld = Bardejov). Brought to the National Library in Budapest in 1915.
