General Description

Polyphony on parchment flyleaves at front and back; flyleaves were once part of same manuscript as PadU 1475 and OxfBC 229. Copied at St. Giustina Benedictine Abbey in Padua. Folios with music removed from original context and used as flyleaves during first half of 15th century. Subsequent history same as for PadU 675.

RISM Description

Corpus of theological treatises and commentaries, 193 folios in total, plus 3 flyleaves (2 at front, 1 at end) and 2 modern endpapers each end. Modern foliation including parchment flyleaves. Modern leather binding over original wooden boards. Music only on the parchment flyleaves. 10 red 5-line staves per page.

RISM B/IV 4: 14./15. Jh.; 193 Blätter Pergament + 2 Vorsatz- und 1 Nachstoßblatt Pergament + je 2 moderne Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblätter, 315 x 215 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-195 (inklusive Pergament-Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblätter). - Einband: moderner Lederüberzug der originalen Holzdeckel.

Diese aus S. Giustina (Padua) stammende Handschrift des 15. Jh. enthält theologische Traktate und Kommentare (altes Inventar Nr. 416). Musik steht nur auf den insgesamt 3 Pergament-Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblätter. Diese müssen zur gleichen Handschrift gehört haben wie die Fragmente GB-Ob229 und I-Pu1475. Die vor allem seitlich beschnittenen drei Blätter besaßen ursprünglich das Format von ca. 320 x 245 mm und sind nach Clercx im ausgehenden 14. Jh. oder um 1400 geschrieben worden. Je Seite stehen 10 rote Fünfliniensysteme mit schwarzer Mensuralnotation Das Fragment schließt unmittelbar an I-Pu1475 an (vergleiche Incipitverzeichnis Nr. 1 und I-Pu1475, Nr. 16).

Original covers of wooden boards, now overlaid with modern leather. Black mensural notation on red staves.

Late 14th or early 15th century (ClercxJC). Copied at St. Giustina Benedictine Abbey in Padua. Folios with music removed from original context and used as flyleaves during first half of 15th century. Subsequent history same as for PadU 675.
