Ein fröhlich Wesen hab ich erlesen

General Note

Attribution to La Rue in Vienna Ms. 18810; to Pipelare in Basevi & the Pernner codex. Anonymous in Trent 1947-4. The 'split' signature in Basevi & the high transposition (up a fifth) perhaps indicate that Vienna is a better source, and therefore that La Rue is the composer? (Notes from W G Kempster.) (On the other hand, Basevi was copied by one of the court scribes in Mechelen, who ought to have known if La Rue was the composer?)
