Vulnerasti cor meum (2p. Veni in ortum meum)

Attribution Note

Christoph Baumgartner (DIAMM communication) explains that the ascription of 'Vulnerasti cor meum (2p. Veni in ortum meum)' to Conrad Rein in D-Rp A. R. 940-941 (D) and (A) is probably incorrect, since Rein as a German Protestant composer would hardly have been included in the Motetti della corona (1514), where this piece is included and which features only French/Flemish composers, nor in sources such as E-PAbm 6832 or I-CMac L.

The motet is anonymous in the Motetti della Corona, but appears between two motets by Jean Mouton. A contemporary theorist, Pietro Aron, however identified the author in his Trattato of 1525 as being Antoine de Févin.
