Bibliothèque nationale de France, Département de la Musique (F-Pn)

Paris, France

Comments

In earlier RISM publications from series A and B, the siglum "F-Pn" referred to the main library of the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) located at the Quadrilatère Richelieu.

Once the music department moved from there to the neighboring Rue Louvois in the mid 1960s, the siglum F-Pn was increasingly used specifically for the music collection.

Over the years, further RISM sigla were added for various other departments of the BnF, the most prominent of which is F-Pnm, the Département des Manuscrits. If you are trying to find a manuscript and you do not see it listed here, try also consulting our Archive page for F-Pnm.
