General Description

This 2nd Part of a Graduale was probably written by Jacob or Hans Freyburger for the monastery of Salem, although other scholars name the church of St. George or the cathedral chapter of St Constantine as the most likely source. The manuscript has been in Mühlhausen since at least since 1792.

RISM B IV/3: 16. Jh.; 156 Blätter Pergament + je 1 Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblatt Pergament, 560 x 390 mm. Originale Foliierung von f. CCII-CCCIX und als Fortsetzung moderne Foliierung von f. 310-361 (es fehlen 4 Blätter). Je Seite 7 rote Vierliniensysteme mit Quadratnotation (einzelne mensurale Elemente). - Einband: 16. Jh.; mit weißem Leder überzogene Holzdeckel; Blindpressung.

Dieser 2. Teil eines Graduale aus der 1. Hälfte des 16. Jh. (terminus ante quem: 1542) wurde vermutlich von Jakob oder Hans Freyburger für das Kloster Salem, vielleicht aber auch für St. Georgen oder für das Konstanzer Domkapitel bestellt. Die Handschrift befindet sich seit spätestens 1792 in Mühlhausen.

Inhalt: f. CCII-CCVII Schluß des Temporale; f. CCVIIff. Sanctorale; f. 339ff. Kyriale (zum Teil tropiert).

[Translation] 16th Century, with 156 parchment sheets + 1 endpaper each and parchment endpapers, 560 x 390 mm. Original foliation f. CCII-CCCIX with continuation in modern foliation, f. 310-361 (missing 4 leaves). 7 red four-line systems with square notation (with isolated mensural elements). Binding: 16th Century, with white leather covered wooden board and blind tooling.
