General Description

Recovered from binding of later book. Apparently the only surviving remnants of Tenor and Bassus partbooks, from a set originally of five volumes. Copied by Jean Michel, a copyist at the Este court in Ferrara (RifNL). Complete original contents known through 18th-century Catalogus estensum manuscriptorum codicum preserved in Archivio di Stato in Modena, which lists one of the partbooks as 'Codex DCCCXXXVI' (RifNL). Copied in Ferrara, for use at the court of Ercole II d'Este, Duke of Ferrara (1508-59). Este family library transferred from Ferrara to Modena in 1598; joined to Modena university library in 1892.

XVIe s. 16ff.
