Contents Contains 267 compositions, 121 from 27 composers, 146 are anonymous.
General Description

One main scribe copied most of ff. 1-171'; 45 additional scribes, one of whom also wrote ff. 253-254' of BerlS 40021 and ff. 151, 241'-243, 246', and 249'-252 of LeipU 1494 (NoblDHM). Fascicles copied by main scribe have systematic ordering of pieces by genre (Magnificats, hymns, Marian antiphons, German secular pieces, etc.); remainder of manuscript is composite of many originally independent fascicles bound with first section c. 1511 (NoblDHM). Penultimate piece mentions Matthaeus Lang, Bishop of Gurk 1505-19.

Probably copied in Innsbruck (and Augsburg?), perhaps by scribes associated with imperial court chapel. Several fascicles, possibly entire manuscript, once owned by Nikolaus Leopold of Innsbruck (later of Brescia), whose name appears on several folios (see FässNL for biographical details). Purchased by Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in 1874.
