General Description

Bassus for 'Salve festa dies' on f. 2'; Faburden for another 'Salve festa dies' on ff. 113a'-113b. Copied in England. Owned in 1676 by Elias Ashmole. Probably purchased by Bodleian Library from William Maskell c. 1875 (MadanSC).

vii paper + 156 parchment + ii paper folios, 139 x 94. New pencil foliation, 1-155, omits front flyleaves and uses "21," "98," and "113" twice. New covers of tan leather on cardboard, with tooled borders. Bassus for "Salve festa dies" on f. 2', in white mensural notation. Faburden for another "Salve festa dies" on ff. 113a'-113b, copied in dots beneath original chant (fifth staff line added).

Second half of 14th century (Processional); piece on ff. 113a'-113b added in first half of 15th century, piece on f. 2' added in late 15th or early 16th century. Copied in England. Owned in 1676 by Elias Ashmole. Probably purchased by Bodleian Library from William Maskell ca. 1875 (MadanSC).
