General Description

A copy of Yonge's Musica Transalpina (1588, DQ books only bound together) with the Cantus (only) of 2 pieces added in manuscript on blank staves. The Byrd piece is re-texted, perhaps for one of the Accession day events in November each year. The other appears likely to have been sung at the entertainment provided at Elvetham for Queen Elizabeth in 1591 - more so than the other setting of this text in Lbl RM.24.d.2 (the Baldwin commonplace book) (GreerMI)

DIAMM, 2024
Date

probably c. 1591, contemporary with the Elvetham entertainment (above) (GreerMI)
