Music is found on a flyleaf, f. i; this was formerly pasted to the front cover of the manuscript. It contains a typical English Gloria and Sanctus in three-part score, is bound in reverse with relation to the rest of the manuscript. The manuscript was bought by the British Museum on December 4th, 1922. In the 16th century it belonged to a Thomas Thurston.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 2 A late 14th century parchment cartulary meas. 260 x 180 mm. and containing i + 60 folios. The contents, which are arranged very roughly in alphabetical order, consist mainly of grants to and by the priory of Augustinian canons at Blythburgh, Suffolk, who were dependent on the Abbey of St. Osyth, Essex. There are a few odd 15th century glosses. The musical flyleaf f. i was formerly pasted to the front cover of the manuscript, whose binding is of leather over oak boards. The manuscript was bought by the British Museum on December 4th, 1922. In the 16th century it belonged to a Thomas Thurston. The Ars Nova notation is written in black ink without ornament on 12 five-line staves per page. Accidentals are often marked, and the common English usage of joining together groups of ligatures may be noted. The flyleaf, which contains a typical English Gloria and Sanctus in three-part score, is bound in reverse with relation to the rest of the manuscript.
