General Description

A collection of documents with polyphony on f. 110. Verso contains tenor part for an 'Asperges me,'; recto lists religious obligations of an Augustinian monastery to other houses in confraternity. Leaf with music probably copied at former Augustinian abbey at Cirencester, Gloucester. Once belonged to Prof. James Buckman (d. 1884), who superintended some excavations at ci. Presented to British Museum by Miss Corinna Hutchison in 1915.

ii + 118 + ii paper folios [modern guard book], upon which are mounted a collection of documents. Modern pencil foliation, 1-118. Modern covers of maroon leather and cloth on boards. Parchment leaf, 84 x 114, now mounted on f. 110 is only item within scope of this catalogue. Verso contains tenor part for an "Asperges me," copied in black mensural notation with hatchet-shaped longs and breves; recto lists religious obligations of an Augustinian monastery to other houses in confraternity.

Late 14th or early 15th century (music); list of religious obligations dates from late 13th century. Leaf with music probably copied at former Augustinian abbey at Cirencester, Gloucester. Once belonged to Prof. James Buckman (d. 1884), who superintended some excavations at ci. Presented to British Museum by Miss Corinna Hutchison in 1915.
