General Description

Ff. 2-3 are apparently the only remaining fragments of a large choirbook of unknown extent, copied by a single scribe, in England. F. 1 is a dedicatory page for King Edward VI, dated October 5, 1549, without music, and unrelated to two other folios. Purchased by British Museum from C. Gough in 1878.

3 fragmentary parchment folios, now of irregular sizes due to fraying and tearing. First folio measures ca. 492-500 x 360; second and third folios originally measured ca. 565 x 416. Modern foliation, 1-3. Ff. 2-3 apparently the only remaining fragments of a large choirbook of unknown extent and contents. F. 1 is a dedicatory page for King Edward VI, dated October 5, 1549, without music, and unrelated to two other folios. Modern covers of blue leather and cloth on boards. Black/red mensural notation with void semiminims and fusae. Copied by a single scribe.

Early 16th century. Copied in England. Purchased by British Museum from C. Gough in 1878.
