In two layers: Layer I (ff. 1-63) has scribal concordances with CasAC M(D); Layer II (ff. 63'-71) has scribal concordances with CasAC P(E). Copied at Casale Monferrato; may have been commissioned by Guglielmo Marchio Paleologo, Marquis of Monferrato (r. 1494-1518).

Ces 6 mss. (le 7e G étant plus tardif) copiés dans la 1ère moitié du XVIe s., forment un ensemble inséparable, et par le répertoire et par les scribes qui se retrouvent dans plusieurs d'entre eux. Le papier identique pour tous, les reliures originales toutes semblables, indiquent que ces mss. auraient été copiés et reliés au même endroit, très probablement à Casale pour l'usage de la cathédrale, comme semblerait le prouver la présence de compositeurs locaux (Francesco Cellavenia ou Nicolaus de Madis) et de motets dédiés au patron de la ville, saint Evasius. Cependant, le style néerlandais de l'écriture dans certaines parties (les messes de M(D) et les ff. 1-60 de L(B) ont pu faire penser qu'elles auraient été copiées aux Pays-Bas dans l'atelier de Pierre Alamire (Staehelin), alors qu'il est plus probable qu'il s'agit de scribes néerlandais travaillant en Italie. La chronologie de la copie s'établirait comme suit (Crawford):

I. 1515-1518: Messes dans M(D) et ff. 1-60 dans L(B)

II. 1521-c. 1526: P(E) entier, ff. 63-71 dans L(B) et 1-66 dans D(F)

III. 1538-c. 1545: Motets dans M(D), ff 67-151 dans D(F), N(H) et C entiers.

Sur plus de 230 pièces, on y relève 90 unica dont des messes inconnues de Barra, Bruhier, Mouton, Ninot le petit, A. de Silva.

Ms. L(B) I-CMac L(B)

XVIe s. 71ff + 1f. limin et 2 gardes à là fin. Papier, 475x325 mm. Foliotation moderne. Les ff. 18v, 19, 69 à 71 sont blancs. Notation mesurée blanche. 11 portées par p. Capitales ornées à la plume avec visages caricaturaux. Reliure XVIe s. cuir collé sur carton.

Jusqu'au f. 54, on retrouve le scribe des messes du ms. précédent M(D), ces 2 sections ayant été copiées en même temps entre 1515 et 1518. On y trouve un Credo de Compère (no 6) déjà copié dans Md2267 compilé sous la direction de Gaffurio tout au début du XVIe s. et 2 messes unica: H. Barra (no 1) et Ninot le Petit (no 5). Deux autres scribes se succèdent ensuite, dont le dernier (du f.63 à la fin) a dû travailler quelques années plus tard entre 1521 et 1526. C'est dans cette dernière section qu'apparaît Nicolaus de Madis (motet no 11), qui avait été nommé maître de la chapelle le 26 janvier 1534 et que l'on retrouve dans les archives en 1538, 1541, et 1542.
