General Description

A Sextus partbook from a set of six volumes. This book does not contain the prints RISM L779, M2173, and Walter: Magnificat octo tonorum (Jena, 1557): it is manuscript only.

Originated at the Löbau Latin school. The manuscript was at one time in the Löbau Ratsbibliothek, but was deposited at the library in Dresden in 1890.

6 paper partbooks, each (except book 6) consisting of the prints RISM L779, M2173, and Walter: Magnificat octo tonorum (Jena, 1557), with manuscript additions before the prints (D-l folio, A-0, T-0, B-3, Q-3) and after the prints (D-54 + i folios, A-?, T-54 + i, B-?, Q-?), 150 x 195. Book 6 (S-20 folios), 150 x 195, is manuscript only, not an addition to a print. No foliation, but the pieces are numbered. Books 1-5 have been restored and rebound in modern brown cardboard covers; book 6 is unbound and has no covers. Copied by a single scribe.

Date 1565 in manuscript. Originated at the Löbau Latin school. The manuscript was at one time in the Löbau Ratsbibliothek, but was deposited at the library in Dresden in 1890.
