General Description

Apparently the only surviving remnants of large choirbook containing Masses. Copied in England. Removed from original context and used as covers for court book recording business transacted in 1595 in county of Sussex. Court book subsequently deposited in Arundel Castle; music discovered in 1982 by William Summers.

2 parchment folios, originally ca. 420 x 351, later trimmed to 338 x 216 and 335 x 351 respectively. Apparently the only surviving remnants of large choirbook containing Masses. Poor condition due to dirt and water damage; some music now illegible. No foliation visible. Black mensural notation on red staves, with red coloration. Space left for principal initials, but initials never added; minor initials in red ink.
