General Description

The bassus of 'Gaude flore virginali' added on the verso of an account roll. It was copied in Arundel, possibly for use in the household chapel of Thomas Fitzalan (1450-1524) or William Fitzalan (ca. 1476-1544), the 10th and 11th Earls of Arundel respectively (see Bowers and Wathey, New Sources).

1 parchment folio, 553 x 260. Account roll on recto; bassus of "Gaude flore virginali" added later on verso. No initials or decoration.

Second quarter of 16th century (music); account roll dates from first half of 15th century. Copied in Arundel, probably for use in household chapel of Thomas (1450-1524) or William (ca. 1476-1544) Fitzalan, 10th and 11th Earls of Arundel (BowersNSE).
