Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-5 (Index) und anschließend Foliierung des 15. oder 16 Jh. von f. I-CX. Je Seite 8 schwarze Sechsliniensysteme mit schwarzer (Nachträge zum Teil mit weißer) Mensuralnotation des 14. und frühen 15. Jh. (zu Teil mit ornamentaler Rotfärbung der Schlußnoten). Wasserzeichen: Florenz 1403-1432 (?) - Einband: Holzdeckel des 15. Jh. (?) mit modernem Lederrücken.
Diese zu den wichtigsten und ältesten Quellen italienischer Trecentomusik gehörende Handschrift besteht aus 11 Faszikeln zu 8 oder 12 Blätter (letztes Faszikel: 11 Blätter), denen fünf, einen um 1420 geschriebenen Index (ab Buchstabe F) enthaltende Blätter (mit gleichem Wasserzeichen wie das Hauptcorpus) vorangestellt sind. Der systematischen Anordnung und dem Repertoire nach zu schließen, steht die Handschrift in enger Beziehung zum Werk Francesco Landinis. Es ist deshalb anzunehmen, daß sie in Florenz redigiert worden ist. Pirrotta setzt die Niederschrift des von einer einzigen Hand geschriebenen Hauptcorpus um 1400, v. Fischer um 1380/90 an. Die Nachträge reichen bis in die Mitte des 15. Jh. (siehe unten Inhalt). - Die Handschrift gehört zur Sammlung Panciatichi, die, im 16. Jh. von V. Borghini angelegt, im 17. Jh. vom Florentiner Gelehrten Lorenzo Panciatichi zusammengetragen worden ist. Ältere Besitzer- oder Herkunftsvermerke fehlen.
Inhalt: moderne f. 2-4 Index; originale f. 1-47 Landini (2- und 3-stimmige Ballate, ab f. 41v Madrigale); f. 47v-60 Giovanni; f. 61-75 Iacopo; f. 75v-80 Lorenzo; f. 80v-84 Donato; f. 84v-86 Gherardello ; ab f. 86v vermischte Madrigale und Cacce. - Die Nachträge gliedern sich in 5 Gruppen: 1. In unmittelbarem Anschluß an das Hauptcorpus, von gleicher Hand wie dieses, ergänzend an freien Stellen eingetragen: unter anderem Nr. 5, 12, 16, 19, 26 u. a. -2. Nur wenig später als das Hauptcorpus und von ähnlicher Hand wie dieses eingetragen: Nr. 110, 114, 128, 136, 139, 142,145, 156, 167, 171, 176, 177. - 3. Vermutlich um 1400/20 von etwas jüngerer Hand eingetragen: Nr. 178-185, ferner wahrscheinlich Nr. 35 und 36. -4. Nach 1420 (im Index von jüngerer Hand nachgetragen): Nr. 72. - 5. Nachträge in weißer Notation um 1430/50 (im Index nachgetragen): Nr. 33, 34, 37. - Leer sind die f. 16r, 18v-19v, 20v, 33v, 41r, 101v, 103r, 109V-110V, sowie moderne f. 1 und 5.
INCIPITVERZEICHNIS
Die in der Hs. meist mit roter Farbe geschriebenen Minuskeln der Stimmbezeichnungen sind im IncV durchwegs mit Majuskeln notiert. Die Abbreviaturen der Komponistennamen sind nur bei sicherer Lesbarkeit stillschweigend aufgelöst. Weggelassen wurden die oft unter einzelnen Textsilben anzutreffenden Punkte, welche den Zusammenzug zweier Silben bezeichnen.
