A Discantus partbook from a set of six volumes. Each volume is a modern compilation (by J. J. Maier) of originally separate items, of varying sizes. Some items probably copied in Augsburg; others probably of French or Netherlandish origin. Owned by Johann Heinrich Herwart (1520-83) of Augsburg. Herwart collection purchased by Wilhelm V, Duke of Bavaria, in 1585; placed in court library at Munich, whose holdings formed foundation of present Bayerische Staatsbibliothek.
