General Description

Polyphony on ff. 40', 77-82', 84-86, 92-94, 97'-102, and 130'-133. Copied in Zwickau by several scribes, including Stephan Roth, (1492-1546), rector of Latin school at Zwickau 1517-20, city scribe of Zwickau 1526-46. Bequeathed by Roth to Zwickau Ratsschulbibliothek in 1546.

RISM Description

RISM BIV/3: 16. Jh.; 181 Blätter Papier + 1 eingeschobenes Blatt + 3 Vorsatzblätter, 216 x 160 mm. Originale Foliierung von f. 1-181. Je Seite bis zu 8 Fünfliniensysteme mit gotischer Choralnotation, schwarzer und ausnahmsweise weißer Mensuralnotation - Einband: 16. Jh.; Pergament-Tasche mit Messingbeschlägen.

Diese Handschrift, ein Antiphonar, das aber ab f. 50 auch Messeordinariumssätze enthält, wurde in der ersten Hälfte des 16. Jh. (um 1520?) teilweise vom Rektor der Zwickauerschule und späterem Zwickauer Stadtschreiber Stephan Roth (1492-1546) und teilweise unter dessen Aufsicht von verschiedenen Händen geschrieben.

vi + 174 + ii paper folios, 207 x 162. Original ink foliation, 1-173 (one folio between ff. 80/81 not numbered); front flyleaves have modern foliation, 1-6; back flyleaves have modern foliation, 7-8. Original covers of tan parchment, with brass clasp. Original index on third flyleaf at front. Monophonic contents copied in Gothic Hufnagel notation and black mensural notation. Polyphony on ff. 40', 77-82', 84-86, 92-94, 97'-102, and 130'-133, copied in Gothic Hufnagel notation and black mensural notation, except for incomplete Josquin Mass on ff. 130'-133, in white mensural notation. Copied by several scribes, including Stephan Roth (see below). Inked Gothic initials; rubrics, etc. in red ink. Watermark resembles Briquet #4955.

Frist half of 16th century. Copied in Zwickau. Owned by Stephan Roth (1492-1546), rector of Latin school at Zwickau 1517-20, city scribe of Zwickau 1526-46. Bequeathed by Roth to Zwickau Ratsschulbibliothek in 1546.
