General Description

A Bassus partbook from a set originally of four volumes. Copied by a single scribe. Most Latin pieces have text underlaid; German pieces have text incipits only. Possibly copied in Heidelberg, but interpolated German piece in Magnificat suggests central or eastern German provenance (StaeNQ).

2 paper partbooks of an original 4 (A-47 folios, B-35), ca. 110 x 110. Folios in poor condition due to water damage. Two original folios ripped out at end of A; one original folio cut out between ff. 18/19 of B. New foliation. Blank folios, or blank staves only—A: 1, 24-25, 26-45, 46-46'; B: 23-23', 33'-35'. No covers or binding remain. No index. Copied by a single scribe. Watermark: crown. Most Latin pieces have text underlaid; German pieces have text incipits only.
