General Description

Polyphony on both flyleaves; generally related to other fragments copied at St. Giustina Abbey in Padua (OxfBC 229, PadU 675, 684, 1106, 1225, 1283, 1475, and StreBR 14), but not from same original manuscript as any other fragment (RISM). Copied at St. Giustina Benedictine Abbey in Padua. Folios with music removed from original context and used as flyleaves during early 15th century. Subsequent history same as for PadU 675.

RISM Description

Corpus of sermons, 83 folios in total plus two front flyleaves A and B. Music only on these.

RISM B/IV 4: 15. Jh.; 83 Blätter Pergament, 356 x 228 mm + 2 Vorsatzblätter Pergament, 318 x 228 mm (beschnitten). Ohne Foliierung; Vorsatzblätter. f. A. und B. - Einband : moderne Kartondeckel mit Wildlederrücken.

Diese aus S. Giustina (Padua) stammende Handschrift des 15. Jh. enthält Sermones des Hieronymus und Moraltraktate (altes Inventar Nr. 121). Musik steht nur auf dem Vorsatzdoppelblatt, das einer Handschrift des frühen 15. Jh. angehört hat. Format (ursprünglich ca. 330 x 230 mm) und Schriftspiegel lassen vermuten, daß dieses Fragment, trotz der ebenfalls 10 roten Fünfliniensystemen je Seite, nicht derselben Handschrift wie GB-Ob229, I-Pu684 und I-Pu1475 angehört hat. Die Musik ist in schwarzer und schwarz-roter Mensuralnotation aufgezeichnet.

ii + 83 parchment folios, 356 x 228. (Flyleaves measure 318 x 228; trimmed from original size of ca. 330 x 230). New ink foliation, A-B, on flyleaves. Modern cardboard covers, with leather spine. Polyphony on both flyleaves, copied in black mensural notation on red staves, with red coloration. Generally related to other fragments copied at St. Giustina Abbey in Padua (OxfBC 229, PadU 675, 684, 1106, 1225, 1283, 1475, and StreBR 14), but not from same original manuscript as any other fragment (RISM).

Early 15th century (RISM). Copied at St. Giustina Benedictine Abbey in Padua. Folios with music removed from original context and used as flyleaves during early 15th century. Subsequent history same as for PadU 675.
