RISM Description

RISM B/IV 5: XVe s. 99 ff. Papier, 215 x 150 mm. Foliotation moderne. Le f. 81 r-v est blanc. Notation mesurée blanche. 5 à 7 portées par p. Intitiales ornées.

La partie musicale de ce ms. qui consiste en 14 ff. (71-84) comporte 7 compositions copiées sur les p. laissées blanches entre un traité des confessions et un recueil de règlements formulés par le chapitre général de l'ordre des Dominicains. Outre la foliotation récente, une numérotation ancienne note 1. au premier traité; 2. à la partie musicale; 3. au traité final. On distingue dans le ms. musical proprement dit 2 sections bien distinctes copiées par 2 scribes différents à 2 époques différentes: A. Du f. 71 au f. 80v: 7 portées par p., notation rouge et blanche. Initiales ornées de figures caricaturales ou de motifs décoratifs. Répertoire anglais de la 1ère moitié du XVe s.- B. Du f. 81 au f. 84v: 5 portées par p., notation blanche, Ecriture moins soignée, pas de lettres ornées. Répertoire italien de la fin du XVe s. comportant des unica. On peut considérer la date de 1489 qui figure à la fin du vol. comme la date extrême du ms.

99 paper folios, 214 x 145. New pencil foliation, 1-99. Restored and rebound in modern covers of white cardboard. Music copied on openings originally left blank between two theological treatises (= new ff. 71-84). Two distinct sections (ff. 71-80' and ff. 81-84'), each copied in white mensural notation by a different scribe (first section has red coloration). Inked initials decorated with grotesques and featherlike designs in first section.

Ca. 1440 (section I); late 15th century (section II). Presumably copied in northern Italy.
