General Description

Two strips of the same folio. Copied in England. Discovered in 1966 in the l6th /17thcentury binding of an 8th-century copy of St. Paul's Epistles. The coat of arms of the former owner, Thomas Nevile, Dean of Canterbury, Master of Trinity College from 1593-1615, is found on the cover from which the fragments were removed.

This strip has now been recatalogued as B.11.34, where it has been united with two adjacent strips from other bindings in the library.

RISM BIV/4: 15. Jh.; 2 Pergament-Streifen desselben Blätter, 67 x 287 mm (Format der beiden zusammengesetzten Streifen). Ohne Foliierung Je Seite 2 Fünfliniensysteme mit schwarzer und schwarzroter Mensuralnotation des frühen 15. Jh. erhalten.

Diese 1966 aufgefundenen Streifen stammen aus dem um 1600 verfertigten Einband einer Paulus-Handschrift des 8. Jh. Sie gehörten einer Musikhandschrift des frühen 15. Jh.an.

[Translation: RISM BIV / 4: 15th Century, 2 parchment strips from the same leaf, 67 x 287 mm (the format of the two composite strips). Without foliation. Each page contains 2 five-line staves with black and black-red mensural notation of the early 15th Century.

These strips, discovered in 1966, are from a 1600 binding of an 8th century Paulus manuscript. They originated in an early 15th-century music manuscript.]
