General Description

Polyphony on new ff. 26'-27, 59-60, 77'-84, 99-106', 107'-108', 111'-112, 114'-119. Copied by several scribes. Copied in Prague? Belonged c. 1546 to the humanist Joh. Rodericus a Choterina (d. 1581); presumably entered university library in Prague at end of 16th century. Shares Utraquist connections and some repertory with the Specialnik Codex.

Hlavkova proposes that the collection is connected with the school at the church of St Nicholas in the Lesser Town (Mala Strana) of Prague.

RISM Description

RISM BIV/3: 15./16. Jh.; 126 Blätter Papier + je 4 moderne Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblätter, 320 x 210 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-126; dazu eine weitere moderne, jedoch kanzellierte Foliierung Ferner originale Pag. auf f. 1-61 sowie originale Foliierung A I-XXIV, B I-X und (weiter) unregelmäßig bis F I-XIV. Je Seite wechselnde Zahl von roten oder schwarzen Fünfliniensystemen (vereinzelt auch Vierliniensystemen). Böhmische Choralnotation sowie schwarze und vereinzelt weiße Mensuralnotation - Einband: modernes Leder (restauriert 1958).

Diese von sehr verschiedenen Händen des späten 15. und 16. Jh. geschriebene Mischhandschrift gehörte um 1546 wahrscheinlich dem Humanisten Joh. Rodericus a Choterina († 1581). Weiteres über ihr Schicksal ist nicht bekannt. Vermutlich gelangte sie am Ende des 16. Jh. in die Prager Universitätsbibliothek. Die Nachträge reichen mindestens bis ins späte 16. Jh. (vergleiche besonders Incipitverzeichnis Nr. 26 u.nd 27).
