General Description

The polyphonic piece is on ff. 55-56'. Originated in The Netherlands. In 1533 the manuscript belonged to an order of nuns at Schonenberg; by 1623 it had passed into other hands, and by the end of the 19th century it was in the library of W. Bäumker. In 1905 the manuscript was willed to the University and City Library at Cologne.

RISM Description

RISM B IV/3: 15./16. Jh.; 152 Blätter Papier, 190 x 135 mm. Alte Folierung von f. 1-124 (weitere 28 Blätter später hinzugefügt). Je Seite, soweit feststellbar, 5 Fünfliniensysteme mit gotischer Choralnotation, zum Teil mit mensuralen Elementen.

Diese Handschrift war im Jahr 1963 nicht auffindbar. Fotokopien und Faksimiles von f. 54r-56v sowie die Beschreibung der Handschrift bei Pohl (siehe unten Ausgaben) ermöglichten die vorliegenden Angaben. Es handelt sich um ein Processionale niederländischer Herkunft, das Antiphonen, Hymnen, Responsorien und ähnlich enthält. Der Hauptteil der Handschrift (bis f. 124) stammt aus dem späten 15. oder frühen 16. Jh. Das einzige zweistimmige Stück (im Hauptcorpus) ist in Einzelstimmen notiert. 1533 gehörte die Handschrift den Ordensschwestern von Schonenberg, von wo sie offenbar schon 1623 in andere Hände gelangte. Gegen Ende des 19. Jh. befand sie sich in der Bibliothek von W. Bäumker, mit dessen Nachlaß sie nach 1905 in die Universitätsbibliothek Köln kam.
