General Description

Contains a 10th century copy of the letters of Victorius Aquitanus De pascha and computus tables of the same period (f. 1-10v), lives of saints and an office for St. Nicholas (f. 11-70v), Diedericus' account of the translation of St. Benedict to Fleury in 883 (f. 71-82), sermons on St. Augustine (f. 83-96v), more sermons (f. 97-106v), etc. Music appears in various types of notation. The French neumes on f. 87v fill in an originally blank page between two sermons with the organal voices for 3 Graduals (incipits only) and their verses. Unfortunately the neumes are staffless, though the dry-point text guide-lines do help a little to clarify the melodic movement There are many apostropha, and Romanian letters appear here and there (l and q). The 3 organa were inserted in the 11th century in black ink. Like the manuscript, they are probably from Fleury.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 1: A 10th-11th century parchment manuscript meas. 229 x 169 mm. and containing 154 folios. One blank unnumbered paper flyleaf at each end belongs to the modern parchment binding dating from the 19th century. The foliation is 19th century ink at t.r.r. The occasional use of colour for initials is restricted to red. The contents of this codex are : a 10th century copy of the letters of Victorius Aquitanus De pascha and computus tables of the same period (f. Music appears in various types of notation: on f. l0v in Aquitanian point neumes, making use of some text guide-lines scratched in with a dry point, on f. 66-69 in staffless French neumes, on f. 70v again in Aquitanian neumes, on f. 71 in. letter notation, and on f. 87v in delicate French neumes. The latter fill in an originally blank page between two sermons with the organal voices for 3 Graduals (incipits only) and their verses. Unfortunately the neumes are staffless, though the dry-point text guide-lines do help a little to clarify the melodic movement, though not a lot. There are many apostropha, and Romanian letters appear here and there (l and q). The 3 organa were inserted in the 11th century in black ink. Like the manuscript, they are probably from Fleury.
