Contains 35 letters of Saint Jerome and a Passion of St. Maurice. All the musical items are later additions, which appear on the two unnumbered parchment flyleaves at the front and back as well as on f. 71. The only polyphonic work among these plainsong responsories is the verse Gabrihelem archangelum scimus to the Respond Gaude Maria. As usual in works of this period in staffless notation, the two parts are written one above the other over the text.

RISM Description
RISM B/IV 1: An 11th century parchment manuscript meas. 369 x 250 mm. and containing 71 folios plus 2 unnumbered parchment flyleaves slightly smaller in size. In addition, there is a single paper flyleaf at each end belonging to the modern binding, which dates from c. 1800 or earlier. The binding itself is of half-leather with mottled brown paper front and back over pulp boards. The spine is ornamented with gold tooling and the title "S. Hieron. Epistolae MSS. Lat. IX. SAEC". An 18th century "Ex libris Monasterii S. Germani a pratis Parisiorum" appears on f. 1. The principal contents are 35 letters of Saint Jerome in elegant 11th century minuscule. The initials are examples of neat line-work, but rarely employ red colouring. After the letters of Jerome comes a Passion of St. Maurice. All the musical items are later additions in early 12th century French staffless neumes, which appear on the two unnumbered parchment flyleaves at the front and back as well as on f. 71. The only polyphonic work among these plainsong responsories is the verse Gabrihelem archangelum scimus to the Respond Gaude Maria. As usual in works of this period in staffless notation, the two parts are written one above the other over the text. The foliation at t.r.r. is only about half the age of the ms.
